OVERVIEW

 We would like to invite you to join us for the 2022 St. Louis Shock & Heart Failure Symposium, held in-person at a new location, the beautiful Chase Park Plaza Royal Sonesta Hotel in St. Louis, Missouri.


You will hear from leading experts in the field of cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, anesthesia and intensive care. The symposium will feature talks on patient management, device selection and management, case presentations, and device troubleshooting from our elite physicians, nursing leadership and perfusionists, in an interactive breakout session and ECLS skills lab. 


We will present cutting edge therapies to advance the knowledge of cardiogenic shock, advanced heart and respiratory failure with a focus on cardiogenic shock, left ventricular assist devices, heart transplant, COVID-19 related severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), pulmonary embolism, the role of the PE Response Team (PERT), and additionallectures to enhance each attendee’s understanding of the optimal treatment for patients.

TOPICS INCLUDE:

• Complex management and patient selection of patients on ECLS 

• Optimal treatment of advanced heart failure, left ventricular assist device (LVAD) 

and heart transplantation (OHT) 

• Various percutaneous ECLS therapies, and guideline directed use of ECLS cardiogenic 

shock and ARDS 

• Multidisciplinary teams in treatment of cardiogenic shock and ARDS 

• Perioperative and long-term management of LVAD, management of right heart failure 

and adverse events of LVAD indication 

• Optimal treatment of critical cardiogenic shock (CS) and severe acute respiratory distress 

syndrome (ARDS) 

• Role of perfusionists in ECLS management 

• Simulation lab with modules on troubleshooting ECLS 

• Nursing education and training with 360 ICU team approach 

• Program development, finances, and management of ECLS
